  • THE YUCK FACTOR
If there is a yuck factor for you, like my mom had, I suggest trying a panty liner on your dry days, and a pad at the very end of your cycle.  My mom was the ultimate skeptic, and is now a liner addict (as she no longer needs menstrual pads).  She finds them so comfy soft and was amazed at the lack of odour. Then, as you fall in love, you can try to customize your pads for your heavier flow days. I recommend trying the pads at home first, until you find the right combination for you (in terms of leakage-as every woman’s flow is different).

I don’t use PUL on pads, to increase air flow. I can make some with PUL upon request, if you need a more leakproof pad (especially when you are out and about, for heavier days or at night).

    THE SMELL FACTOR
Do they smell?  They actually have much less odour than disposables, for the same reasons that the washable dipes have less odour (air flow, no plastics).

Disposable sanitary products can cause all kinds of irritations and have been linked to all kinds of problems (including toxic shock syndrome for tampons). Please do your own research, but I was alarmed.

    WASHING & CARE
Keep your pads in a bag (see my wet bags) and after three days, just open the bag and throw in a wash.  Do a prewash on warm first, to get most of the liquid out. If using for very low flow days or dry days, no need to prewash. Please be careful with detergents (see washing & care section).
